Forget about denying yourself beer and pizza, if that’s what you love. Overly restrictive diets never succeed for long.

Building better habits is a much better idea. A little common sense goes a long way. Never let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

And forgive yourself if you backslide occasionally. It happens to us all. It’s called being human. Insead of beating yourself up, get back on track.

Along the way, increase your protein intake. There is more to protein than protein powder. Protein includes meat and fish, and even some foods like chickpeas. Consume protein with every meal and make sure you consume at least 1 gram of protein per kilogram of body weight every day.

Don’t demonize carbs. Your body is naturally wired to crave carbs because they are required to keep you strong and healthy. If you resist, you will probably end up binging. Pair your carbs with lean protein so you can lose fat and build muscle faster. Reduce consumption of sugary and processed foods such as cookies, ice cream and chocolate bars.
